Europark Klager

Europark Klager: Are you a victim too?

I do not mine paying my way through life and will pay the consequence when I break a law, but I hate when companies just take it upon themselves to fine citizens without reason just so they can line their pockets with quick cash.

For example:

On March 26, 2011, my wife and I went shopping for the first time since my back surgery. Had not been able to really get out for more than an hour. Anyway, we went to Viborg Storcenter in Viborg on a Saturday morning to pick up a few items.

Arrived at the carpark at 9:40am, set the P-SKive to 9:30 and went shopping at Jem og Fixx, Harold Nyborg, Jysk Sengetøj and Plantorama. After each purchase we returned to the car to deposit our goods. We were finished shopping at 11:15 and returned to the car.

Voila, what do we find on the car windshield. A parking fine from Europark! Now since we were parked almost under a parking sign, it was easy to see what the parking rules were. 4 hour parking limit.

Now the clincher was really what was on the parking fine.

1. It said the P-Skive in our car was set to 0715! It was set to 0930. The shopping center does not even open up before 9AM! Why would anyone be there at 0715?

2. Second thing the fine says the parking fine person was at the car between 11:34 and 11:37. Impossible, we got to the car at 11:20AM and he was nowhere in sight. Does he time travel?

This is such a made up parking fine. We spend alot of money in the shops at Viborg Storcenter, but I can tell you we are NEVER going back to that shopping center again.

They can make up the rules and than you either pay or you pay more.

See, you have 10 days to pay the fine or you are charged a late fee. Yes, you can dispute the fine, which we did. Tried calling the offices and was told to file a "Europark klager" on their online form.

After filling out the Europark Klager form, you get a message saying their attorney will get back to you within 14 days. Well that is after the 10 days grace period, so you have to pay or pay more!

If you read any of the online stories about Europark, you will see that almost everyone who goes up against them loses, because it is "he said / she said" situation.

I tried taking photos with my phone when we got the fine, but no way to document the time or how the P-Skive was set. Plus the pictures turned out where you could see the time, but not the date.

But that will not prove anything. Let's face it you can change the P-SKive and the time on your phone or watch! So how do you prove it.

Do not know how many people get these false fines, but I am sure that I am not the first nor will I be the last. That is why we will never shop at any store that uses the Europark parking services.

From now we check who is in charge of the parking facility, before deciding to park. Rather spend my money in shops that protect their customers from these type of fascist tactics.

I am sure that the shops in Viborg center won't really notice the drop in their sales from us departing. (last year we spent a little over 20,000kr in the above mentioned stores including the Tæppeland and Biva).

But if everyone that got taken unlawfully by Europark stopped shopping there and used the money they save from paying 590 kroner to shop elsewhere ... well than maybe those stores will realize that they are hurting their own business.

This is no way to treat good customers. Never expect to hear from their attorney. If I do it will be to say, that they can do nothing or that we can go to court, where there will be larger court costs to pay. And those tactics will dissuade people from going to court to fight something that probably wont be overturned.

Well that 590 kroner is gone, but the stores could have gotten that in sales instead.

Please boycott the Viborg shopping center and tell them why you are. Boycott any Europark car park and insure that you do not get one of these illegal fines.

It is amazing what companies will do to earn money. Oh wait, we call those people criminals and send them to jail. Not if you are major corporation, even in Denmark that is known for low crime and corrupt officials. Guess that does not apply to Europark!
