Don't come to Denmark!!!!!! Never for the purpose of finding a job here. They hate foreigners, no matter what your qualifications are. If you don't have a job they will hate you cos you don't have a job and most of them will think that you are living on thier tax money( they believe that every foreigner in their country is getting financial help from state). If you get a job ( which is very rare 1%) they will hate you cos you are stealing thier jobs.
Finding a job related to your qualifications is almost impossible. Maybe there is an exception for few types and few countries such as USA, Scandinavian countries etc. Otherwise forget it. There is a chance that you get some replacement/temporary job only after mastering danish language skills which may take less than or upto a year. I have seen highly qualified foregners working on as low as 40Kr/hour cos they can't find a job.

PS I have masters degree in electrical engineering. Only after 8 months of searching jobs and talking to consultant companies and employers, I got a replacement job in a kitchen. Around 26 hours a month.

Victor,

You are not alone in having a hard time finding work. These past few years has been tough on the economy and jobs are few and far between. That said I know many expats who have jobs in their fields and at good salaries. The secret is get the job before moving to Denmark. Also if you are working at 40 kr an hour, you are working "black" or being mistreated by your emplyor. Min wage is closer to 100 kroner per hour. (not sure of exact amount .. but not 40 kroner). Your employer should be reported.

Working through a reputable temperoray agency, you will at least get a fair pay and still be able to search for a job. Also not all Danes think that you are stealing their jobs. Only if you are working "black", undercutting their wages and taking their jobs because of that.

I do hope that you find work in your field and learn to fit in. It can be a struggle, but think how you would feel if someone came to your country and got a job that you wanted or needed.

Many people are struggling at the moment.

2024-06-02 - Same experience
by:

I'm an experienced software developer. I'm already in Denmark, but not taking any government transfers and paying for everything as the Danes do. I don't speak Danish yet.

I posted my application to more than 15 job positions matching my prior experience at 12 companies during the past two months. I got only three responses to date, all of them were based same template: "Dear XY, Blablabla... I regret to inform you... Good luck!"

I also posted similar applications to two companies in Sweden mainly for comparison and self-verification purposes. Both of them responded in record time and I got an interview at one of them. Same statistics for others I spoke with in the meantime, even for those who sent more than 50 applications just to Denmark.

This way Denmark will lose many skilled professionals and brilliant young minds, which will sooner or later be reflected on their economic progression compared to the neighboring countries.

Only the Danes know what they're doing...

Response: Sorry to hear about your experience, but it is quite common even for Danes. They send out hundreds of applications and get form letters back. I can understand your disappointment, but jobs are still hard to come by and companies are flooded with applications. All I can say is network, keep sending applications and work on learning some Danish.

FYI Denmark
