Malika

by Malika Pradhan
(Copenhagen)

Hi,

The page is really informative and helpful. However, I have a query regarding how many hours can I work here in Denmark.

I am employed in one of the hotel in Copenhagen and it is not full time job. There I use A-kort. I have got some few hours evening cleaning which is also not full time and they belong to different companies. So, what can I do?

I have less knowledge about using A-kort and B-kort, can I have some detailed information regarding these?

Thank you

With regards
Malika

Malika,

The normal work week is 37 hours. You can use your A kort, which has your deductions attached, for a single job provider. If you work through a temp / vikar agency, you can work at several places. If you work for a second job provider, you have to use your B kort, which does not have your deductions included. You will still get your allotted deductions at year end, when you do your taxes.

As for the number of hours you wish to work, it is normal to not work more than 37 hours, but you can work as many hours as you want. One single company will probably not hire you for more than the 37, since than you will be paid overtime.

If you work for 3 companies and get 15 hours per week, that is fine. A kort for the main one and B kort for the other two.

Hope that answers your questions. You may wish to talk to SKAT about raising your A kort deductions if you have several jobs, where you use your B kort. It will mean more money in your pocket up front and not having to wait til April every year for your money.
