Dear Charlie,

What does it mean....Pls clear in English.

ex) Jeg skal gå til Paris næste uge.
ex) I 2 uge, jeg skal gå til min Onkel's hus.

Arif

1. I am going to visit Paris next week.
2. In week 2, I am going to my uncle's house.

Am I doing your homework? You can use google translate to translate simple phrases like this. Just go to www.translate.google.com/ , copy the phrase you want translated and paste into the word block, choose which language it is in "danish" and the language you want it translated in to.

Hope that helps

Dear Charlie,

Thanks a lot. Yes, your comments is most helpful for me. Not a bit. But I don't understood one thing. "Vesterbrogade" What does it mean. Pls clear me. And have some questions.............

A: "Vesterbrogade is a main street in Copenhagen (Vesterbro is also an area of Copenhagen). There is a boarding house on Vesterbrogade called Pension 94. Tina is the manager there. (or at least she has been for some years). Their phone number is +45 33256868. Suggest you call and talk with her and see if they have any rooms available and the cost.

1.First time i want to go alone. So, how many days or month i can stay in a hotel or boarding. Answer: As long as your visa or permit allows and as long as the pension has the room available. Some people live there for years.

2.Rent of hotel or boarding. Is it monthly or hour basis. Answer: Based on a monthly rate at Pension 94, but there are other places that charge by the night. Look for places called "pensionat". There is a placed called One Bed, which rents by the night (350kr?). Their site is www.onebed.dk)

3. Is monthly, have any deposit system in the case of Hotel or boarding. Answer. Usually there is no deposit, you pay a month in advance.

4. Monthly basis salary 14000 DKK, Including (House rant, Medical, Entertainment etc.) all. or excluding this. Answer: Remember the min. salary is around 14,000DKK, but that is also before taxes, etc. You should expect to only get about 60% in take home pay. You may also earn more depending on your job and hours. Standard work week is 37 hours, but you can have a second job or work "undesirable hours" like night shifts and get higher pay. 14,000 DKK is just a reference and not set in stone.

Dear Charlie,
Thanks for continue with me. As you know i'm from Bangladesh & it's a third world country. Our living status vary poor than first world. We can survive us vary Chiefly .My questions are.........

1. Is it possible to survive expand DKK 7000/month.

2. I want live where living cost is less than the other place but job is available, so that i never unemployed. In that case i need your advise.

3. "Getting started guide" Could you please inform me the source where can i get it?

4. I'm a business graduate and i have more than 3+ year experience in export, import sector. My designation is matching with positive list. So, which type of organization and job is available for me in Denmark.

Thanks and Regards

Mr. Arif.
Bangladesh.

The get started guide is on everypage of the FYI Website, left column in the index. Cheaper to live in Jutland or at least outside of Copenhagen. Stay close to major cities which will have more jobs - Arhus, Odense, Aalborg. Of course more international companies/english speaking are based in Copenhagen. You can opt to live outside of the city, maybe towards the southwest - prices are a bit better in places like Hvidovre, Brøndby, Greve and along the coast. Check the rental pages, where you can search for apartments and see the rates.

Honestly, surviving on 7000 kroner per month for one person can be done, but you are scraping the bottom. It will not stretch very far and you will have to be very frugal. If you get a fulltime job, your base salary will be at a min. 14,000 krone per month (37 hour week, 100kr per hour.

Remember when you rent a place you have to put down a deposit which is 2 or 3 times the monthly rental. Rent for 4000 kroner and may need to put down 8000 - 12000 in deposit plus your first months rent.

Not trying to scare you but make you aware of the situation. If you are single, there are options, like a few monthly style hotels or boarding rooms, but again very basic.

There is one on Vesterbrogade, I will see if I can find the name of it. 15 min walk to downtown, so you could live there and walk to most work places in the city center.

Hope that helps you a bit.

Dear Charlie
Thanks for you fruitful answer. Now i'm more confident than before. I have the score applying for green card scheme. If i win green card, how much amount(DKK or URO)carry with me in first time. Have any government law or bindings. Could you inform me please?

Arif,

Depending on where you plan to live and work, you should come prepared to have at least 20,000 kroner per month set aside. In the beginning it can be much more, if you need to pay deposits on rentals and such.

I suggest you read the getting started guide and follow that. Once you have a work permit, you will get your CPR number and can open a bank account and have your funds transferred over.

Plan to spend much more than you do in Bangladesh. Denmark is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. For example: McDonalds Big Mac meal is usually 50 kroner or 690 BDT. Small apartment in Copenhagen is a min of 4000kr (55000 BDT) and usually much higher.

As for asking about government laws or binding, I am not sure what you are asking about? Please clarify. The rules for work and resident permits are on the green card scheme page with links to government portals that have details for each individuals circumstances and you are probably better checking out those portals, where you can enter your personal details.

Green Card Scheme
by: FYI Denmark

Arif,

I will try to address your questions.

1. I am not the government, so I do not decide on who gets in and who doesn't. There is an application form at https://www.fyidenmark.com/green_card_scheme.html and all the rules for qualifications. Fill out that form and send it in and you will get a reply back. All the procedures are listed there also.

2. Denmark does not hate foreigners. Denmark has a very diverse population and there are many foreigners who live here. What the Danes do not like are foreigners who come here to try to live off the social welfare system and abuse the system. They also do not like when people come to Denmark and try to impose their beliefs onto them. This is Denmark and if you want to live here, you should respect the culture and try to fit in and not make it like was back in your own country. If that is what a person wants they should remain at home. You would probably not like it if someone came to Bangladesh and tried to turn into Denmark. Common sense.

3. There are lots of expat groups in Denmark and again you can find a list of them at www.fyidenmark.com/expatsindenmark.html.

4. Your life is not in danger here, since people will respect you if you respect them and their culture. Try to fit in and you will have no problems. I know lots of foreigners from all over the world who live in Denmark and have no problems. It can take time to become "friends" with the Danes, but there are no threats unless you create them.

I suggest you use the site search feature on FYI Denmark and you will an answer to many of your questions.

Hope this helps.
